He also performed
admirably as Spain
sucessfull defend their European Championship crown in Ukraine and
Poland in Euro 2012 held earlier this summer and was subsequently

RONALDO KEY TO MADRID SUPER CUP WINNER AS MADRID WINS ON THE SUPER CUP. WATCH AND DOWNLOAD HIGHLIGHT

Real Madrid yesterday claimed the 2012 Spanish Supercopa after a whopping
2-1 second-leg victory
over Barcelona in their Santiago Bernabeu. The Los Blancos triumphed ona 4-4
aggregate score, but due to the away goals.
A missed clearance error by Javier Mascherano saw
Gonzalo Higuain hitting the
opener, and an
outrageous and wonderful flick from
Cristiano Ronaldo on
Gerard Pique put him in position to make it 2-0 in the 19 minutes.
Adriano's red card just
before half an hour
seemed to mean the end of Barca's hopes, but Lionel Messi goal pushed
them back to their feet with a
fantastic free-kick on the dot of half-time.
The second-half was full of tense as a much-improved Barca had their
chances to score again, but
there was no way back for the santiago visitor as Madrid hung on to
claim their first
trophy in the new
season.
Pepe returned from a concussion to start
alongside Sergio Ramos in the defence line, but there was no
place for Madrid new signing Luka Modric, who watch the game from the bench.
An injury to Dani Alves during the training, forced Tito Vilanova to
draft Jordi Alba in to play from the left- back, with Adriano shifting
to the opposite flank.
Carles Puyol was another recorgnised absentee after
fracturing a cheekbone in
the 2-1 win over Osasuna last weekend. .
Mascherano had always been Higuain costumer whom he slip past him for
an early one-ton-one that was saved by
Victor Valdes, and the
Argentine gifted his
compatriot an even
greater chance in the 11th minute, when he missed attempt at a
clearance allowing the striker to steal
in and slot home the game opener. It went for bad to worse
for Barca eight minutest later, as Madrid struck
again after capitalising on another lapse at the back. Pique was left
bamboozled by a heel flick from superb Cristiano Ronaldo, who advanced
on goal and had
time to steady himself
before blasting in via Valdes leg. Valdes was ones again called into
action to deny
Higuain, who was again able to get behind the defence line, while
Madrid saw a third goal questionably
disallowed for an
infraction after Pepe
nodded directly in a free-kick. Bacellona hopes brighten when Messi
gave the visitors only goal of the match after the team suffer a one
redcard exclussion.
The Argentine took charge of a free-kick after Xavi was brought down
30 yards from goal and bent a breathtaking effort around
the wall, past the
outstretched arm of Iker Casillas and into the back the net the ball
goes. Still, Madrid nearly responded in the dying embers of the
first-half as
Ronaldo's 35-yard drive bounced inches wide, and Higuain also narrowly
missed to hit the back of the net. The game ended on this score line as Madrid
held on to claim the
Supercopa and set the
pace for what is sure to be a enthralling season in Spanish. to

FALCONET 'FANS WILL WIN US THE GAME' AS MEXICO TEAM REPLIED 'IT IS NOW OR NEVER'

In all the matches Earlier played by Nigerian Falconets in
Saitama, there has been a posse of Nigerians in the
stadium singing, All we are saying, give us more goals chorus, a normal refrain
from the fans when any of the national teams are playing.
Their presence and their songs have been helping the Falconets win
their opponents so far and they will need more of the inspiration when
they
take on Mexico on in Tokyo come tomorrow. The
first goal scorer for the Nigerian Falconets in Japan, Ngozi
Okobi confirmed. "It's true that the fans are
always asking for more goals," Okobi said to Fifa.com.
"But that's a song we use a lot in our country and it inspire us.
Whenever we hear it, we feel as if we are home, though I was still
very surprised
by how many Nigerian supporters there were present in
the stadium. That helped us a lot in winning the matches,
But the Falconets must be watchful and careful of a Mexican
team that have been consistently
improving from a first day defeat game.
"I think this team is
stronger than what we had in 2010,"
Okobi mused.
"We have very good
players in every side of play, good
goalkeepers and alot of girls who can make differences in the game.
"We started on a good note by scoring two goals, and we're highly
confidence for the rest of the
competition," Okobi made known.
The Falconets have so far scored seven goals and conceded
just one while the Mexicans have also scored seven
goals but have conceded four in the tournament. The Mexicans are also
primed for the contest as they hope to take after their U-23 male team
that just won the Olympics men's
football event in the just concluded london 2012. "It will be an
interesting match because they have
qualities we are lackin and vice
versa, The key to success will be
confidence and
intelligence," said Sofia Huerta, of Mexican team, who have scored a
goal each in the three group stage
matches earlier played. The Mexican ladies are already thinking of how to
overcome the challenge of the physical attributes of the Nigerian
team. "They are a strong and athletic team, so we'll
need to be cleverer to
keep up with them when we play them. We have to realise the fact that,
for Mexico to win, it's now or never,"
Huerta added. Did you know you can join our interesting fan page on

looked up to Real Madrid talented Cristiano
Ronaldo as his football idol.
Wearing the same number seven jersey for Nigeria, Ahmed Musa was the
new kid on the block as he
was snapped up by VVV Venlo after breaking the 20 year-old Nigeria
Premier League scoring history with Kano Pillars.
By the time he moved to CSKA in January and the opportunity to play
against his model Ronaldo finally came in the Uefa Champions
League last-16 over two legs a month later.
Even though the Russian club lost 5-2 on aggregate, it was an impressionable
moment for the
Nigerian talented winger. "I was so excited playing
against my football role model,"
Musa made knoxn." I felt very delited, after the game we had
conversation coupled with a handshake and a picture."
Musa did not stop at that point, he got Ronaldo's jersey

have it hanged in my home,
when you come in you can see it there on the wall,"
he stated. Being one of the most exciting young Nigerian
players currently doing well in Europe, Musa will be among the squad
that are tasked to secure
Nigeria's place in next
year's Africa Cup of
Nations when they are to take on Liberia in final qualifiers in
September and October respectively. It's a match that Musa is very
much interested at winning with the team. " As For me whenever I come
to the super eagle camp to play for my fatherland I give it best to

Chelsea have finally competed the signing of Wigan Nigerian born
winger Victor Moses, bringing to an end the club's summer-long
pursuit of the 21-year-old talent.
Wigan are believed to
have accepted a bid in the range of £10 million for the Nigerian
international striker, with Roberto Di Matteo showing not wasting time
spending during the current ongoing transfer window.
The Blues also confirmed the signing of Marseille full-back defender
Cesar Azpilicueta
earlier today, joining the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Marko
Marin and Thorgan Hazard who are the summer's new
recruits for Stamford
Bridge squad.
While Moses' switch to west London had
been slow due to Latics chairman Dave Whelan playing hardball in the bids
negotiations, the 75-year- old eventually relented to
allow the Nigerian striker a move away from the DW
Stadium to the Stamford Bridge.

MACHESTER LINE UP THREE PLAYERS FOR URGENT SALES

The latest news from manchester United is a news that will greatly
please Dimitar
Berbatov more than the duo of Bebe and Federico Macheda, but one
wonders what offers Sir Alex Ferguson is williness to accept for them.
The Bulgarian impressive striker is sure to have a number of
prospective suitors keen on snapping up the services of the 31 year
old who is ever ready to prove he still has a lot to offer having
spent the
last year stuck on the
reserve bench, despite scoring regularly when on duty for United.
Ferguson appears to be
unwilling to sell the
former Tottenham good ball controller 'on the cheap' but one
wonders how much the United boss would
be looking forward to considering the fact that Berbatov will be out
of contract in a year and can then leave on free transfer.
It's harder to see where offers for the likes of attackers Bebe and
Federico Macheda will come from due to their lack of performance .
Portuguese youngster
Bebe is in verge of
making record as best known for being the man Ferguson spent £7.4m on
despite not seeing the player in the field of play person. The 22 year
old spent last
season on loan away to Besiktas but a cruciate ligament injury saw him out of
action for almost six months and he has since returned to
the Premier League club but doesn't appear to have much of a future
having never proven
himself in the United squad. Federico Macheda on the
other hand showed great potential when he first hit fame after scoring
an injury time
winner on his debut
against Aston Villa.
However the Italian has not hit the performance level again and loan
spells at Sampdoria and QPR have failed to see the youngster improve.
Ferguson will have no real need for the trio knowing that he has a
first team attacking
quartet of made up of Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie, Javier
Hernandez and Danny
Welbeck to call upon when ever needed. Join teamsheadtohead on

FIFA CORRUPTION WAR DEEPENS AS BIN HAMMAN IS ONCE AGAIN BANNED

Mohamed bin Hammam has been suspended for 90
days at the request of Fifa ethics prosecutor Michael Garcia. FIFA's
anti-corruption
judge made his first decision in office with
confirming the fact that former presidential candidate
Mohamed bin Hammam is provisionally suspended while the bribery
allegations against him is looked into. FIFA says Joachim Eckert
invited the alleged Bin Hammam "to submit a written statement" on the
case before making his pronouncement.
FIFA have previously suspended bin
Hammam from all soccer duties for 90 days last month at the request of
the ethics prosecutor Michael
Garcia. Garcia is deciding whether
to charge bin Hammam over an alleged financial
mismanagement of Asian Football Confederation
funds during the Qatari official's presidency. Garcia
is also looking into an allegation that stated that Caribbean voters
were bribed during the FIFA presidential election held last
year. The Court of Arbitration for Sport last month lifted bin
Hammam's life ban, prompting FIFA to
search for new evidence to nail him. Join Teamsheadtohead on facebook

SIR ALEX FERGUSSON MAKES NANI SCAPE GOAT

Manchester United Striker Nani is set to become the first high-profile
exit from Manchester United. United Boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to
make Nani scape goat
after his poor performance
during Manchester
United's shock 1-0 defeat to Everton Earlier this week.
Ashley Young is set to
replace Nani for Saturday's away match against Fulham.
The Portuguese
will become the first high- profile casualty after United suffered an
unexpected opening day league defeat since eight years. Nani, 25, has
become frustrated over collapse talks over a new four-
year deal with the old trafford side. He currently has two years left
on his £90,000 per week deal but wants an increase to £130,000.

CHELSEA JOINS BATTLE FOR NEWCASTLE CHEICK TIOTE

NEWCASTLE is reportedly to be set to battle the likes of Chelsea,
Manchester City and Arsenal over
Cheick Tiote. Tiote, who joined Newcastle from FC Twente for a sum of
£3.5million in year 2010 and only signed a deal at the Sports Direct
Arena last year, became famous last season as Newcastle finished in an
impressive fifth in the English Premier
League. Chelsea have been linked with a possible signing of Chieck
Tiote. Michael
Essien has been having series of
injury concerns and is not the same player he is known for and
Nigerian John Obi Mikel performerns have been inconsistence so it
obvious why the Stamford Bridge side would be interested in the
Magpies intelligent player.
The Ivory Coast player adapted instantly to life in the English top
tier after arriving at St James' Park from FC Twente two summers ago.
The defensive midfielder has been an hero at Newcastle United and was
a major force in Alan
Pardew's push for a best EPL five finish last season and
is surely not a player they would consider selling at present.

MANCHESTER UNITED MOVE FOR RICARDO KAKA

If the latest rumour is anything to go by, Kaka might be headed to Old
Trafford this summer. According to a report released by the Daily
Mail, the
Brazilian attacker has been offered to Manchester United for a
season-long loan as Real Madrid is set for the arrival of
Luka Modric. Sir Alex Ferguson and United squad are extremely wary of
the fact that the battle for the title may actually be fought and won
in the
middle of the field when the team is made up of talented attacher.
After manchester city Yaya Toure and Eden Hazard's wonderful
performances at Chelsea, United may take Kaka as a timely boost for
the team to challenge for the legue tittle. According to the released
report, Galatasaray and Kaka's former club AC Milan are also
interested in the year 2007 World Best Player, but United will be the
biggest draw for the Brazilian talent. Manchester United have signed
left back player Alexander Buttner a
23 year old , for £3.9million from
Vitesse Arnhem.
Kaka, who has been struggling with injuries was an
unused substitute on
Sunday night when Real Madrid were
held 1-1 by Valencia in the laliga opener. Kaka has also lost his role
in the Brazil squad due to injuries.

LIVERPOOL SET TO BEAT ARSENAL OVER SAHIN

Liverpool football club are set to beat Arsenal
for the signing of Madrid midfielder
Nuri Sahin. The Turkish is expected put to end his one-
year loan deal once the Spanish champions have concluded the
signing of Luka Modric from the spurs.
Sahin, 23, has found it difficult to meet first team since moving to
the Bernabeu from Borussia Dortmund last summer and had
been keen on a loan move to the emirate this summer. Real Madrid Boss Jose
Mourinho is however interested in the player to continue his
development under liverpool new Boss
Brendan Rodgers who took over at Anfield this summer. Mourinho had
been quite reluctant to loan Sahin to a potential Champions League
rival, while his long-standing feud with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger also
played a part in his reluctance to send the player to emirates.
Arsenal had identified the playmaker as the ideal candidate to make up for the
absence of Jack Wilshere, who recently suffered another setback in his
rehabilitation
from a long-term injury that took him away from football, and bolster
a midfield which looks likely to lose Alex Song to
Barcelona before the summer transfer closes. Sahin, who has been
talked into a move to Anfield by liverpool former player Xabi Alonso,
now looks set and may likely become Liverpool's third major signing
during the transfer summer.
The liverpool Boss has already spent £15million in order to reinforce
his side's central midfield with
the addition of Joe Allen from Swansea city and Fabio
Borini signed from Roma at the sum of £10m.

CONTROVERCY OVER CHELSEA PROPOSED PLAYER VICTOR MOSES

The chairman of wigan Dave Whelan
has sound a note of warning to Chelsea that there is the need for
chelsea to make up their mind over the proposed signing of the
nigerian internation Victor Moses. Chelsea have been linked with
the attacker this summer, not considering the fact they have signed
the likes of Oscar, Eden
Hazard and Marko Marin and have reportedly had two offers turned down
by the Latics all during the summer transfer. Wigan Boss Whelan
confirmed that offers of like have been made but he insisted that he
will only accept a worthy amount,he also reveals his valuation of
Moses does not correspond with that of wigan manager.
"Roberto Martinez believes I have put too low of a figure on him, but
have told Chelsea what we want for the deal.
"They've offered certain conditions of which one of them was on
appearances and I'm not too
interested on appearances because
any circumstance may come up at a football cub like Chelsea FC. You
may have to play one game out of six in the starting team because
there is so much competition in the squad. You could even get injured,
"I have asked them for a sum on the deal, if they can come up with the
fee we will release him, if they can't then Moses will remain in the
squad."
Whelan then made known that his
asking price isn't as much as" £10 million, and that £9m isn't far
from his demand. The chairman then expressed his angry over the Blues
hesitation over the proposed move,
suggesting that his own wigan have been left in loop as they
wait to make a crusial decision on whether they need to dip back
into the transfer market if the player move. "We could do more
businesses this summer, it depends on what Chelsea decides on. "If
they come with the asked fee we'll sell him, if they don't he remains
in the team. "If we sell young Victor we
probably will go back in the market shopping for players. I'd like to
keep Victor in the squad,I think he'll improve very well from playing
another season or another two or three seasons under the wigan
Roberto. Martinez's squad are to kick-start their
new season against Chelsea this week Sunday, when is still isn't clear
which side the 21-year-old will
turn out for when the season commences.

CHELSEA ROBERTO DI MATTEO BELIEVES MANCHESTER UNITED AND MANCHESTER CITY ARE THE TOP CHALLENGE OF THE BLUES

Chelsea Boss Roberto Di Matteo has
admitted that Manchester City and
Manchester United are
still ahead of the Blues despite their
considerable summer spending in terms of getting titles in the new
season. Chelsea has added attacking midfielders Eden Hazard, Marko
Marin and Oscar to his squad so far this summer at a combined fee
around £65 million.
Chelsea will face City in the Community Shield on Sunday
and Di Matteo predicted that they would prove the team to beat as
defending champions of europe,
with United not trailing far behind,
"[Manchester City] are last season's champions of the EPL," Di Matteo
said "They'll be the team to
beat, even though United seems very close to them. "Those two teams
are probably a little bit ahead, but the
champions we will want to chase."In addition to this weekend's
pre-season curtain-raiser,Chelsea will compete in the Uefa Super Cup
and Fifa Club World
Cup this season as a result of their FA Cup and Champions
League victories last season. Di Matteo recognised the
opportunity to challenge for extra silverware but also task his team
to improve their final Premier League position after finishing sixth
during the 2011-12 EPL.
"Our biggest aim, or our ambition, is to be able to be challenging at
the right end of
the season for the trophies that are still available," he mused.
"We are going to be in a couple of competitions which are new to us,
so they're an opportunity
for the club and the players, but we certainly have to do better in
the Premier League come the new season." Chelsea adopted a largely
defensive style as they secured European glory last season, but
owner Roman Abramovich is said to admire the 'tiki-taka'
philosophy that has helped Barcelona to dominate domestic
and continental competition in the last 10 years. Di Matteo was
certain that his side, aided by their new signings, would entertain
Blues
fans but warned that no team could truly replicate the football
played presently by the Catalan club.
"Everybody would like to play like Barcelona, but there isn't another
team in the world who plays like them," he stated. "It's a culture, a
way of life, a style they've produced through
the club for a long time and there's only one Lionel Messi around the world.
"The owner's wills to win has never decreased,He wants to
win, and he backs it up with needed resources."It will be a challenge
for us, for
sure, to match the best in Europe and I'm not preaching we'll be this
or that but i believe we will do our best. We're going to be trying to
win in the
way we're capable of, We'll have some good games, I'm sure and certain
about. "I'm excited by these new
players we've signed. You look at what they've done at their previous
clubs, and trying to bring them
together to express their qualities for the team will be so exciting.
"But I don't think you should
expect a completely different Chelsea overnight,"

JOSE MOURINHO :REAL MADRID IS GETTING STRONGER BY THE DAY

The Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho believes that strong bonds between
players in the squad have been a key
factor in his
team's success during the last season campaign. Since the former Chelsea boss
arrived in the Spanish capital,Los Blancos have won one Copa
del Rey and stormed to Liga tittle glory last season, posting an
amazing record of 100-point tally. The 49-year-old feels that
his team have became strong collectively over the last two years,
which helped them grow as a unit an get amazing result.
"It helps when people know each other and get on well together,"
he said to the club's official website.
"The players might have been together for a long time, but if
there's no empathy and pleasure in working together,
you have a bigger problem than when you're putting together a group of
players with mutual understanding. "We all get along well, we know
each other well on a personal level, and in terms of the game of
football.
They know the way I work and my ideas, and I know their's also. "We're
excited about our third year after two in which we've grown from
strength to strength."
The Spanish champions are
currently in the United States preparing for the coming season, and Mourinho is
happy with the work his side has been doing. "It's going well, We
worked hard and well in the first period, and later the games have
turned out to how we wanted them to be in the first place. We're
playing well, once again putting together the pieces of a machine that
is
already working greatly. "[In the 5-1 friendly over AC
Milan] we played well in the first half against a very closed team
that came on with a defensive
strategy and concentrated defence line. "When we scored the second
goal in the second half, they
wanted to attack, and the profile of the game changed drastically.
They played more offensively, leaving a lot of space for our strikers
to strike. It was indeed a great game to train us tactically and
mentally ." During the Rossoneri clash,
which was played in Yankee Stadium, one fan hung up a banner touting
the 49-year-old as a potential replacement to
Barack Obama as US president, to which Mourinho replied: "It
must have been a friend of mine doing a kind of propaganda."

Real Madrid take

beyond the clubs' jurisdiction to call a general assembly, and that
they are going to convene their own

The transfer reunites Allen with
Rodgers, his manager at Swansea until he took over at Liverpool in
June. Rodgers helped to nurture the
Swansea academy graduate into an accomplished deep-lying playmaker and

be part of a three-man midfield
at Anfield alongside the likes of Lucas Leiva and captain Steven Gerrard.

SIR ALEX FERGUSON HEADACHE TOWARDS THE NEW SEASON

The Manchester United Boss Sir Alex
Ferguson is concerned
about the amount of
options he has available at centre-
back ahead of the club's opening game in the Premier
League against Everton. Team defender Rio Ferdinand is fit and
Nemanja Vidic has returned during pre-season from a long-
term knee injury sustained last year

and uncertainty.
Jonny Evans is recovering from
an ankle operation he
underwent in the summer, Chris
Smalling will miss a further three months and Phil Jones
picked up a back injury while the club was on tour away to Norway.
These issues resulted in the
manager repeating his experiment of utilising Michael
Carrick in the centre of defence during the friendly against
Barcelona and he was pleased with the central midfielder
performance. "Evans is recovering from an
operation; Smalling is out for three months," Sir Alex said to the
club's official website. "Jones got a muscle injury in his back
and was sent back to manchester from Norway. "So the area we're are
having deficiency is centre-back. Evans won't be ready for the start
of
the season,He won't be far away but he won't be ready for Everton.
"Smalling is out and I can't give
you an update with Jones because we've not been fully diagnosed
him,But Michael Carrick was absolutely brilliant
[in Sweden] with his passing the ball and his various interceptions.
He was fantastic quite fantastic

performance."Lucas becomes Carlo Ancelotti's fourth major signing this
summer, following the arrivals of countryman Thiago Silva, striker
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and
Argentine international Ezequiel
Lavezzi all with a confirmed deal. He is believed to have signed a
contract worth €250,000 a

contending to win gold for the first time when they take on
counterpart Mexico on Saturday.

NEMANJA VIDIC SAID LESSONS HAVE BEEN LEARNED BY UNITED

Manchester United captain
Nemanja Vidic says
lessons have been learned in
the wake of last season's title
loss to Manchester neighbour City.
United were pipped at the death by two goals from Edin Dzeko
and Sergio Aguero in the dying minutes of the final match as city side
came from behind to beat QPR 3-2. Vidic, forced to look on from the
sidelines as he recovered from a
cruciate ligament injury, is now ready to lead a more resolute
United back into battle in the upcoming campaign.
"We had some young players play a lot of games last season and
they'll have learned lessons about the game. We all
learned," he stated.
"In Europe we've had so much success in recent years - we've
had three finals, a semi-final -
and maybe our relaxe last season was responsible.
"We were punished and we can't allow that to happen once more. We also
had a few injuries last season too. I hope everyone can stay fit
this season.
"The young players can learn from last year, so I'm confident
we'll be better this season." After eight months out recovering from
his injury nightmare Vidic finally returned
to action for Manchester United in Sunday's goalless draw against Norwegian
outfit Valerenga.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side now move on to a high-profile
encounter with Barcelona in
Gothenburg on Wednesday, with
Vidic insisting such a game is vital ahead of the season-opener
against Everton on August 20.
Speaking to the club's official website, Vidic added, "You want
hard games during pre-season, We want to be prepared as best
we can for the first game against Everton squad. "I think it's important to have
tough games before the beginning of the season and
hopefully one of those will be the game against Barcelona.
"But I think both us and Barcelona are concerned more
with fitness and playing good football at this time of the season than
we are winning.
"Everything we're doing is geared towards being ready for the start of
the upcoming season.
"For me, it was really good to have 60 minutes of play.
Hopefully I'll play even longer against Barcelona and I should be fit
for the beginning of the
season match,"
After playing two matches to help England reach the Euro 2012 quarter
finals where they
suffered another agonising penalty shoot-out defeat to Italy, Wayne Rooney is
relishing the prospect of a clash with Barcelona ahead of the his new
campaign. Rooney said: "It's great to play in big games and Barcelona
is surely one of them.
"It's all part of our preparation and we need to make sure things are
right. We want to enjoy the game and get our
fitness ready for the first game of the season against everton,"The
result, in some ways, isn't
the most important thing,What's
important is the fitness and the sharpness."
With regard to his own fitness after returning for the game against
Valerenga, Rooney added: " I'm
happy with how I'm doing,"I've been training for almost
two weeks and I've been working very hard and Everything's going well
so far, I feel good.
"Everybody needs games to get up to match fitness, and not just
me."I'm training well, though, and
I'm looking forward to the next games, Hopefully, by the start
of the season, I'll be ready to play very well." Ferguson returns to manage the
squad for the game after missing the match with Valerenga as he went
on other club business.
Patrice Evra has also rejoined the united squad having flown home on
Sunday to be with his wife for
the birth of their child,

USAIN BOLT WANTS A FOOTBALL CAREER TRIER WITH MANCHESTER UNITED

Race icon Usain Bolt insists that he is serious about wanting a trial
with Manchester United football club. The 25-year-old Jamaican, who is
the
fastest man in history, dashed into sporting legend on Sunday
by defending his Olympic 100-
meter title at London setting record of 9.63 seconds. But, as a
passionate Red Devils
fan who has met up with the team and manager Sir Alex
Ferguson before, he is hoping that his running glory might
prompt his dream career an interesting change. "People think I am joking, but if
Alex Ferguson called me up and said, 'OK let's do this, come and
have a trial,' it would be impossible for me to say no. "I would
not take up the challenge if I
didn't think I was good enough for the game of soccer. I am a very
accomplished player and know I could make a difference with united."
He added: "I would not take up
the challenge if I didn't think I
was good enough,I am a very accomplished player and know I
could make a differences. I would
be the fastest player in the team,
but I can as well play"
And when exactly does Bolt want
the tryout?
"I am in Britain for a few more days," said the gold olympic
medallist, who will seek to retain his 200
meters crown during Thursday's final.
"If Alex Ferguson wants to give me a call he knows where I am." A
spokesman for the Premier League club observed to the
paper: "As the fastest man on Earth he would undoubtedly add speed to
the united squad."
Bolt has expressed his desire to play football before, declaring in
2011, "I definitely want to see what I could do with the round
leather,I think I could step up to the [Wayne] Rooneys height."

CHELSEA MAKES MOVE FOR CESAR AZPILICUETA

EUROPEAN champion Chelsea has made a serious
approach for Olympique de
Marseille right back Cesar Azpilicueta, according to the
president of the French club.
The Spaniard would be Roberto Di Matteo's fourth summer signing, as
the Italian looks to add depth and quality to his
Champions League-winning side for a successful defend.
Azpilicueta appears to be the next name on the list, with Marseille
reportedly willing to
listen to offers which is above 8 million pounds. Marseille president Vincent
Labrune, is quoted in The Sun saying: "Chelsea have made a
serious approach for Cesar [Azpilicueta]"
Chelsea is short on options in the position after allowing Jose
Bosingwa to leave the club on a free transfer, with Branislav
Ivanovic and Paulo Ferreira being the current chelsea only senior right backs.
The 22-year-old started his career at Osasuna before moving to the
south of France in year 2010, and helped Marseille to the Coupe
de la Ligue in consecutive
seasons, But he has found his international opportunities
limited, missing out to Real Madrid
defender Alvaro Arbeloa in Euro 2012.

ROBIN VAN PERSIE JOINS ARSENAL PRESEASON CAMP

Arsenal captain Robin van Persie has traveled to Germany as part of Arsenal's
preseason training camp with his future at the club still
uncertain.The Gunners captain, who
announced his intention to leave the club in an open letter to fans
last month, flew out with his team-mates and Arsene Wenger
on Monday ahead of a friendly with Koln later this weekend.
The Dutchman has attracted interest from Juventus,
Manchester City and Manchester United after openly questioning
the ambition of the north London outfit on July 4, with
Arsenal having finished their
seventh consecutive season without a trophy aside emirate cup, 19
points behind the duo of Manchester city and United.
However, as exclusively revealed, Van Persie has been buoyed by the
potential signings of Malaga's Santi Cazorla
and Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid,
prompting a shift in his attitude at the club's London Colney
training ground over the week.
Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski, who is likely to face his old
club in Sunday's friendly at RheinEnergieStadion, have already been
recruited by Wenger during the summer
transfer window, with the Gunners looking to bolster their attacking
options after a mixed
campaign last season.

POLITICS IS THE MAIN PROBLEM OF ARSENAL....ALISHER USMANOV

Arsenal's board was once again attack by
shareholder Alisher Usmanov. The billionaire, who is the club's
second-biggest shareholder behind Stan Kroenke, criticised the board
in an open letter last month and has now
told Forbes Magazine's Russian
edition that he believes board
"politics" are hampering
manager Arsene Wenger's efforts to improve a squad which has not won
any genuine cup aside that of emirate since trophy since lifting the
year 2005 FA Cup.
Usmanov said: "We do not consider just qualifying for the
Champions League to be the chief ambition of the club, and
with all our hearts we support the team and wish them well in the
upcoming season.
"Victory is absolutely not ruled out, but the current politics played
by the club's management will leave Arsene Wenger and his team with
fewer and fewer
opportunities in the long run."Usmanov made it clear however that he
has no plans to end his association with the club. "I am a fan and I
am not going to sell these shares at any time,
since this is the club that I consider the best in the world,"
he stated.

MANCHESTER UNITED DARREN FLETCHER RETURNS TO THE PITCH

Darren Fletcher will is expected to meet up
with the Scotland squad having
returned to training and completing 45 minutes in a practice match last week.
The Scotland captain's career was in the air when Manchester United
manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed last month that the 28-year-old was
yet to return to
training following a long-standing chronic bowel complaint.
But Scotland manager Craig Levein confirmed on Monday
after naming his squad for the friendly match against Australia that
Fletcher is now on his way back to playing competitive football
for the first time since a Champions League tie against Benfica at Old
Trafford in November last year.
"Darren will be with us at the weekend, he is back in training
and he played 45 minutes in a practice match last week'the coach said.
"He is not in the squad because he has not played for Manchester
United but he will come back
doing a bit of training with us."
Fletcher managed only 10 appearances for United last season as they
were pipped to the Premier League title on goal difference by
Manchester City.
The mystery virus first took hold towards the back end of the previous
campaign and Ferguson confirmed in July that he was unsure if his
compatriot would
ever play again.
He last featured for Scotland in a 3-1 European Championship
qualifying defeat to Spain in October but news revealed that
if Fletcher can keep progressing he could return for the national
side sooner.
"I don't want to go into the medical side of things but I'm
just delighted to say that he is going to do some training with
us the coach hinted.
"We will see how he gets on between now and September
and I think you'll guess that if he
is fit he will regain his position in the team.
He has now amassed 58 caps for his country and was named permanent
captain in 2009 by
then manager of the scotland senior team George Burley.

MAICON TURNED DOWN PSG MOVE EYES MADRID

Maicon has turned
down a move to Paris Saint-Germain, as
he eyes a reunion with his former coach
Jose Mourinho at
Real Madrid. The 31-year-old is out of favor at the Nerazzurri, and as
a result has been the subject of much
speculation over the past few weeks, with the likes of PSG,
Chelsea and Madrid rumored to be interested in getting his signature.
The Brazilian's agent confirmed that his client feels "It is time to
move on", and the player has not been included in the San
Siro club's Europa League squad for her qualifier against Hajduk Split.
Reports suggest Carlo
Ancelotti's PSG put in a bid of around 8-10 million euros for
the Brazilian, an offer
that would have been readily accepted by Massimo Moratti as
he looks for fund go sign Sao Paulo youngster Lucas
Moura. But Maicon is not keen on a move to the Ligue 1 side, and
instead would prefer a switch to La Liga champion holder Madrid, or
Champions League winner Chelsea. His contract expires at the end
of next season and there has been little movement from the
San Siro side in offering the player an extension of contract.
Maicon, who represented Monaco for two seasons before moving to the
Italian giants in year
2006, may even extend his contract in Lombardy, but that
option, according to the reports, remains very much unlikely to take place.
Meanwhile, Moratti confirmed that Inter had pulled
out of the race for Lucas Moura,
directly.

MARIO BALOTELLI BLAST GOAL.COM

Dear
Goal.com,Thirteenth?
Excuse me? I think I should introduce myself. My name is Mario Balotelli,You
apparently have not
heard of me, since you
have listed me only as an afterthought in your recent Goal.com 50.
Perhaps, when you were compiling this list of the world's
best footballers, you were concentrating very seriously on an
absorbing volleyball on the television,or
Perhaps you were distracted by a passing fly. Whatever you were doing,
am sure you were not
watching football.
I play for Manchester City,Did you know that? .My club won
the English Premier League last season,
this is a league containing the
talented likes of I Mario Balotelli,
so to win it is quite an achievement, and I did so despite being in
the same notorious hothead Mario
Balotelli. That, I was told, requires mental strength, Unless you were
in some kind
of week-long drunken stupor, you should recall the events of
October 23, 2011,As my influence spurred City on to a 6-1
uberthrashing of insignificant fleas Manchester United, my second
goal, that even more supreme than the first,
provided you with the greatest photo in football history as I
stood titanically still displaying my message: "Why
always me?"
Those three words have defined the entire year of my
football. My brother, Enoch, who is wise for his age, told me after
the match that I was "the quintessential modern warrior-poet",I am not
sure where he
gets these words from (I fear that he may be reading), but I assume he
is right. I am not arrogant, it is
the fact. You see, the question of "why
always me?" was a rhetorical one,The answer, obviously, is
"me",Nobody can stop talking about me and what I do off the
pitch of play. The stories went that I paid for everyone's petrol at a station,
that I dressed up as Santa Claus at Christmas and handed out money,
that I visited a Manchester university library
and covered all the students' late fees, and more rumour. I did none
of these things, but you did believed that I did it. That tells you
all that you need to know about the transcendental power of Mario the
Balotelli.
As I write this letter, I am interrupted by my phone ringing,It's Noel Gallagher
again. I let it go to voicemail,
"Can we go quad-biking together, Mario? Please? I'll
carry your helmet and
everything!" the ex-Oasis man whines for the 56th time this
week which i ignore. Does Mesut Ozil get calls from Noel Gallagher to
go quad-biking? Does Xavi?
The answer is No.
I am the 'now' man off the game. This is clear,But am also
utterly superior on it.I
came on as a substitute against
Tottenham in a game that my team must win,I stamp on the
head of Spurs captain Scott Parker, a man adored in this country
because he is from the 1950s (approximately the year 40 BB on the
Super Mario calendar). It is quite deliberate, But nothing happened. I
got away
with it through sheer force of my personality. Nothing can stop Balotelli.
Then, in the final seconds, I am
fouled, get a penalty and bury it with the calmest finish that you
will ever want to see. Pressure is
nothing; it is a paper cup within my iron fist. I am only dimly
aware of the concept of pressure in the first place because it has
been explained to me by lesser players of my kind.Fast-forward to May
13, My
team was playing QPR,If we win,
we win the Premier League, But
we were losing. I did not start the game because that would be too
easy for me. But when we fall
behind, I came on, and I make difference that day. Without my arrival
at precisely
the right moment, lying prone in the penalty area to flick the ball
out to Sergio Aguero, the
Premier League we would not have won, All the credit is mine.
Total English glory was already sealed, so I moved on to Poland
and Ukraine for the Euro 2012. Nobody expected me or my
country to do very well. That was foolish thought. First I scored
against Ireland, that was so easy enough. I'm not sure why Leonardo
Bonucci
covered my mouth as I celebrated – if he'd allowed me to belch Jay-Z's
'Big Pimpin'' as
I'd intended, you'd have put me top on your list. Then I single
handedly battered the Germans in the semi-final. That's not supposed
to be possible. Germany win semi-finals, that's
just how it worked – but that was before the coming of Balotelli. My two
goals thrilled a billion fans; my celebrations inspired a million.
To cap it all off, when it came to the final, I saw poor Fernando
Torres and I realised that he needed it more than me at the time. I
allowed Spain to win,I am a footballing philanthropist you should know
that.
There is no discipline in which I have not excelled in the past 12
calendar months. That there are supposedly 12 players who
define yet transcend this sport more than I is nothing short of
ridicule.I am Mario Balotelli,I am
football and Football is me,Always me. And you, Goal.com, are very
wrong. Subscribe for our email notification for updates

BARCELONA WILL COPE WITH OR WITHOUT THIAGO SILVA

Thiago Silva has declared that his move to Paris-Saint
Germain will
have no effect on
Barcelona, who had
previously been linked to move for the former
AC Milan defender.
The 27-year-old is currently representing Brazil at the Olympic Games
and was asked
whether he thought that his decision to sign for the Ligue 1
club would make a negative impact on the Barcelona squad.
"Barcelona are a great team and
they have lived with or without Thiago
Silva until now, as I have lived
without Barcelona, It will make no difference," Silva said at a press
conference earlier held. "I am only thinking about the Olympic games.
My contract is with
Paris Saint-Germain and I hope
to have success over there, as I did
with Milan." The centre-back also admitted that he has had little contact
with anyone at his new club due to his international
commitments.
"I haven't been there yet, I only
signed the contract in a hotel in Rio de Janeiro,I had no further
contact with any player at the club.
I know Leonardo and [Carlo] Ancelotti."

MODRIC SET TO RETURN TO TOTTENHAN FIRST DUE TO DEADLOCK IN MADRID TOTTENHAM TALK

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-
Boas has revealed that Luka
Modric is set to return to tottenham first
team training as the club are still
yet to receive an acceptable offer
for the midfielder.
Real Madrid have been heavily
linked with the Croatia
international this summer but
Spurs have not been prepared to
compromise on their demand.
Villas-Boas believes that Modric
must accept that there is little or nothing the club can do if an
agreement isn't reached before the end of the transfer window.
"He has been training
separately," the Portuguese told teamsheadtohead . "Now it is important
for Luka to feel mentally ready to
come back to the first team training.
"These boys are at a different
level in terms of their
preparation, concentration and
commitment to the team. "I think the player has to
understand that the club cannot
do anything about other clubs'
offers for him. "We have a value and an interest that we have to defend, and we
are waiting to reintegrate the
player if the offer is not met." Modric's future at White Hart
Lane is in doubt for the second consecutive summer, with Villas-
Boas himself pursuing the playmaker this time last year as
manager of the Blues.
The 34-year-old hoped a resolution would be reached as soon as
possible, ideally with
Modric returning to the first
team squad. "We will try to solve it as soon as possible," he said.
"It is the second time we have been
through the same situation. "It is obviously difficult for him, but
the chairman is defending the club's interests and the
player has to understand that,
and the fact that the offer does not meet the chairman's
demands means we can't go ahead with the deal. "The player is a good
professional and hopefully he will
return to the team,"
When asked if Modric could be ready to play at the start of the
season, Villas-Boas replied was "Obviously he will have to raise his
fitness level, and the sooner that we can have him reintegrated
mentally and then
physically, we will then see how
things will go."

MANCHESTER UNITED YOUNG STAR MICHAEL KEANE HAPPY WITH HIS ROLE IN THE GAME AGAINST VALERENGA

Manchester United youngster
Michael Keane was very delighted to
receive his chance to perform in
the Red Devils' first team during
the 0-0 draw with Valerenga.
With regular left-back Patrice Evra
flying home to be with his
pregnant wife as she went into
labour, Keane was given a
chance to line-up in the United
defence despite not
playing the role for more than a
year.
Regardless of the unexpected
nature of the call-up to the starting eleven, the youngster was
happy with his performance, and
that of his team.
"It was strange," the 19-year-old
lad told MUTV. "I've not played there
[left-back] for over a year now,
but I thought I adapted quite
well to the position and Rio and
all the other players helped me
out so much, so I thought I did quite
well.
"They've all got great experience
and they're great players to play
with,I grew up watching all of
them and to play in the same
team as them is great thing as I really
enjoyed it."
Keane now hopes to be given a
chance to take on Catalan giants
Barcelona on Wednesday but
insisted that he would enjoy
watching United face Tito
Vilanova's team even if he was
not involved the game.
"We've only been here a day but
we had a good time around the
hotel and the game today was a
great experience," he said.
"It [the Barcelona game] is a
great occasion for everyone and
it will just be a great game to
watch,I will never mind play in if I get
a chance. I'm looking forward to
it."
United captain Nemanja Vidic
made his return from a knee
injury in the 0-0 with the
Norwegian side, and was
impressed by Keane's
performance in the match.
"I'm glad he's had a full ninety
minutes," the Serbian said, "He
was confident on the ball and it's
a big change from the youth
academy, obviously, and I think
he did really great."

BAYERN MUNICH STRIKEQ MARIO GOMEZ TO UNDERGO ANKLE SURGERY

Bayern Munich have confirmed
Mario Gomez is due to undergo
surgery on an ankle injury he
sustained during the team match against Werder Bremen
last Saturday.
The 27-year-old was stretchered
off only minutes shy of the half-
time whistle at the Imtech Arena
in Hamburg, and it was later
discovered that he would require
an operation to rectify the injury.
Speaking on Sunday, Bayern
sporting director Matthias
Sammer stated: "He is not
good,He needs surgery. Then
we'll see how long he will be out."
The match finished 2-2 after
regular time, only for Thomas
Schaaf's side to win out 4-2 on a
spot kicks.
The Germany striker could join
the likes of Rafinha (torn knee
ligament), Diego Contento
(hairline foot fracture) and David
Alaba (stress foot fracture) on
the club's treatment table with
long-term injuries following the last saturday event.

ARSENAL CHANGES EVERY SEASON....MANUEL ALMUNIA

Former
Arsenal
goalkeeper
Manuel
Almunia is
looking
forward to
watching
how Arsene
Wenger
builds a new
side ahead of
their
upcoming
Premier League campaign,
which gets underway in the next two weeks.
Almunia left the club on June 30
after the Gunners released him
from his contract, and he has
since moved to Watford, where
he has replaced Scott Loach as
their first choice goalkeeper.
Arsenal's apparent reluctance to
spend money during transfer
windows has been a source of
much controversy, but Almunia
is confident Wenger can bring
in young talent and see them
succed.
"As a player at Arsenal, it is quite hard
to see the best players go to
other clubs every year. They
have missed a lot of great
players in the last few years,"
Almunia said to Sunday Mirror.
"The first year I came to
England, I thought 'Oh, I'm
going to win a lot of things
with Arsenal' but the change started after then. The club has been
changing every year,"
The arrival of Lukas Podolski
and Olivier Giroud is an
encouraging start over, according to
Almunia, but they won't cover
for the loss of Robin van Persie
if he leaves the Emirates
this summer.
"One of these years, everything
has to come together and be
perfect, and now is the time for
Arsenal," Almunia noted. "They've
signed some good players this
year, Santi Cazorla is a fantastic player."
Wenger's side play their last
friendly of pre-season against
Bundesliga outfit Koln next
Sunday, with the Gunners
taking on Sunderland in the
Premier League a week later when the English premier league kicks-off.

LEVY TOLD MODRIC HE CAN JOIN REALMADRID...HARRY REDKNAPP

Former
Tottenham
manager
Harry
Redknapp
has claimed
Tottenham chairman
Daniel Levy
told Luka
Modric he
would not
stand in his
way if Real
Madrid tried
to buy the
midfielder
this year.
The Croatia international's
future has been the subject of
intense speculation with Modric
reportedly keen on a move to
Madrid but with the Spanish
champions so far unwilling to
match Spurs' valuation of the talented
midfielder.
However, Redknapp isn't
expecting Modric to still be at
the club when the season kicks
off in two weeks' time, claiming
he was promised a transfer during last
season.
"I would not be sure Luka
would start the season at
Tottenham,the club would be
happy to sell if they get the right bid," he told teamsheadtohead.
"The chairman said to him last
year 'Give us one more season
and if Real come in I won't
stand in your way again.'"
As exclusively revealed by teamsheadtohead, Spurs have turned
down a player plush cash
approach from Real Madrid for
Modric , as they hold out for a
straight cash deal worth £40
millions.

CHELSEA'S MIDFIELDER TIPS CHELSEA FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DEFEND AS HE WISHES NEYMAR TO JOIN THE BLUES

Chelsea's new
signed Brazilian
midfielder
Oscar has
revealed he is
eager to see
his
international
colleague
Neymar
follow him
and make a
move over to west
London.
The pair are currently on
Olympic duty for their brazil,
where they have progressed to
the semi-finals, and Santos star
Neymar has been impressive.
He has been linked with a move
to Europe for several years, and
Oscar has revealed he will be
doing all he can to ensure when
that move comes, he will be heading to Stamford Bridge.
"While we are in London, I have
been telling Neymar about the
ambition of Chelsea.
"When the time comes for him
to join a European club, I hope I
can persuade him to join chelsea."
Oscar joined Roberto Di
Matteo's side for €32 million
(£25m) before the Olympic
tournament began, and he
admits that after hearing of the
Blues' interest he had little
hesitation in deciding to move over
to England.
He added: "When my agent told
me that Chelsea were interested
it was not something I even
needed to think about,
"They are the champions of
Europe, but they are still
showing so much ambition by
re-enforcing the squad.
"To win the European Cup and
still sign guys like myself and
Eden Hazard shows you the
ambition of the owner and
manager.
"With the squad we have I will
be looking at winning the
Premier League title and also
the Champions League he said.
"I know it is very difficult to win
[the Champions League] twice
in a row and even Barcelona
could not do it, but with what
Chelsea have in place it is quite
possible."
However before he gets his
Chelsea career underway, the
former Internacional man
hopes to win Olympic gold with
Brazil.
"The Brazilian Football
Confederation have told us that
they don't expect anything less
than gold - and that is what we
are going to deliver.
"To win an Olympic gold would
be very special to me, He concluded.

ANCELOTTI RULE OUT PSG MOVE FOR CHELSEA ASHLEY COLE

Paris Saint-
Germain boss
Carlo
Ancelotti has
categorically
denied
speculation
linking
Chelsea left-
back Ashley
Cole with a
move to the
Parc des
Princes side this summer.
The Italian coach was believed
to have been weighing up a
move for the England
international, who he coached at English Premier League
success during their time
together at the Stamford Bridge.
However, Ancelotti revealed
after PSG's penalty defeat to
Barcelona in a pre-season
friendly on Saturday that they
are no longer looking for
reinforcements for now.
"Our transfer window is over,
and Ashley Cole is not expected,"
Ancelotti stated to BeIn Sport reporter.
The 53-year-old then praised
his charges for their mentality
against Tito Vilanova's outfit,
who were held to a 2-2 draw in
regular time before claiming
victory on spot-kicks last week.
"It was a difficult game, but a
great experience for our team. We put
up a great performance. We
tried to play and did well there,
Our confidence can only
increase from this point
onwards he said."
Les Parisiens have already
added Zlatan Ibrahimovic and
Thiago Silva from AC Milan, well as Ezequiel Lavezzi from
Napoli.
