MIKEL,ODEWINGIE NAMES ABSENT AS YOBO RETURN TO EAGLES. SUPER EAGLES TEAM LIST RELEASED

The Nigeria Super eagles head coach Stephen Keshi has announced a list
of nine Europe-based
players that will make up his squad to face Liberia for the crucial
final round of the first
leg 2013 Africa Cup of
Nations qualifying match coming up in September. Conspicuosly missing
from the released list is Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel
who has not seen eye to eye with the former national team captain
since he took charge of the team.
Also found missing is West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie who
scored a penalty in a 3-0 defeat of Liverpool last weekend in the EPL.
However, Team captain Joseph Yobo will make his return
to the squad after being out of the team injured for the past three
months. He missed the team's qualifyier against Namibia, and the duo
of Malawi and Rwanda earlier in
June. In-form strikers Emmanuel Emenike and Brown Ideye
are to join Ikechukwu Uche, Ahmed Musa and Victor
Moses upfront while
Obiora Nwankwo and
Nosa Igiebor are the foreign based
midfielders invited.
Goalkeeper Vincent
Enyeama, who became the stand-in captain in the absence
of Yobo, will return to the goalposts while Efe Ambrose and Elderson
Echiejile will be in action at the defence line. The invited players will join
home base players from the Nigeria Premier League
who are already in camp after their international friendly against
Niger Republic
last week. Nigeria are currently under pressure to defeat Liberia over two
legs in order to secure a tiket for South Africa 2013 after they missed out on
qualifying for the last
Afcon edition co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
